Company Profile
Jebsen Travel traces its history back to its former parent company Jebsen & Co., Ltd. ("JCL"). The firm was founded in Hong Kong in 1895, it survived and thrived through two world wars and the most turbulent times in the modern history of Asia.
JCL first started to develop the airline business in 1954 as the General Sales Agent ("GSA") of Lufthansa German Airlines for passenger and cargo traffic. The GSA agreement ended in 1979 until Lufthansa took the decision to establish its own office in Hong Kong.
The GSA business continues to flourish with JCL, subsidiary companies were incorporated from 1978 as the GSA arm of JCL Airways Division, representing various on-line and off-line carriers.
JCL's travel business grew at the same pace. In 1980, a separate division was set up and marketed under the brand name Jebsen Travel, which was designated to play an active role in the travel trade. With the steady growth through the years, Jebsen Travel has become one of the top ten agencies in Hong Kong with an annual sales turnover over US$60 million.
Following a restructuring of the Jebsen Group in early 2002, a new holding company MF Jebsen International Ltd was formed. Among other businesses, all travel and GSA related businesses of Jebsen Travel and Jebsen Air Services Ltd were transferred to the MF Jebsen Group headed by its Executive Chairman, Mr. Markus F. Jebsen. Please refer to the separate attachment for more information on the business portfolio of the MF Jebsen Group.
In July 2004, the Wholesale Department has been renamed to Jebsen Travel Limited (JTL). The company aims to provide full range of worldwide travel products to our industry partners, such as Air Tickets, Free & Easy Packages, Hotel Reservations, Rail & Air Passes, Cruise Liner and Land arrangement etc.
